She is the kind of person that baked her own (delicious red velvet) wedding cake, see above. She also made the owl toppers.

kitchen items nicole can't do without
My Le Creuset pots are a must have for braising meat. The heavy lid has a seal that can't be beat, and the even heating is amazing. I love braises, like the beef with tomatoes and garlic, because I can put everything in the oven and forget about it for hours on end.
My kitchen aid mixer changed my life. Everything is easier. It is probably my most valued kitchen appliance.
My grandmother's cast iron skillet. In addition to being perfect for frying things, it is the very best pan I can think of for making cornbread!
My tablet. I own a lot of cookbooks, but I often poke around on the web to find recipes that sound good, require ingredients that I have on hand, and have been made and reviewed by other people. I have found some great recipes this way! I just prop my tablet up and use it like a cookbook. That said, Sundays at Moosewood is one of my favorite cookbooks, and I would recommend any and all of the Moosewood books to people wanting to add more vegetarian meals to their weekly menu. I've made a lot of Moosewood recipes, and I have loved them all."
