autumn to-make list
This is how we welcome the season of cold weather comfort food at our house.
A galette (a term from French cuisine) is a a flat, round freeform cake topped with fruit.
A pandowdy is a deep dish fruit pie or pudding with a crumbled biscuit or cut-up crust topping.
My kids and I both love chicken and broccoli stir fry and I haven't nailed the recipe yet. Chicken and broccoli is one of those things that I feel entitled to be able to just whip up. I eyeball the soy sauce and garlic ratios and throw things into the wok. It never turns out fantastic. I am determined to find the perfect recipe that will become a dinner standby at our house. So I'm going to try Brooklyn Farm Girl's recipe, this one from Food Network and the recipe from Simply Whisked.
I'm going to try these blueberry oat breakfast bars.
So of course I am going to start with Julia Child's recipe. Here is an interesting read about roosters and other Coq Au Vin technique issues. And here's another recipe from Food Network I might try.
