Oh...so that's what kohlrabi is. I'd had it in a restaurant dish before but didn't exactly know what the vegetable looked like.

Other times, I'll realize that there is something ridiculously obvious and basic that I haven't been doing. E.g. below -- l just figured out that you remove the gills from your portobello mushrooms. The gills have a very earthy flavor and it is best to remove them.
